Before leaving, try to spend some quality one-on-one time with your pet. Even 15 minutes works. Playing or exercising can help them burn the energy they need, preventing destructive behavior during those 8-hour workdays. We recommend leaving your pet with engaging activities to keep them occupied. Puzzle toys or Kong toys stuffed with peanut butter can provide entertainment for 2-3 hours while you’re not home.

Consider leaving on a calming radio station like classical music or a nature documentary. This prevents the house from being too silent and provides comfort for anxious pets.

Ensure that your home is pet-proofed to prevent any potential harm. Our team has seen too many emergency vet visits from dogs who got into household cleaners or chewed electrical cords when left alone. Creating an environment where your lonely pet can’t access dangerous items saves you stress and money. Sometimes pets test boundaries when they know you’re not around, so take precautions by securing cabinets and removing tempting items from countertops.
